Composing a Strong Essay About Gaining Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is something that the world's top leaders, thinkers and speakers possess. Over the course of a lifetime, people tend to become more confident as they learn what their true capabilities and talents are. Since self-confidence is so important for future success, many teachers will assign essays on this subject.

Find a Topic

Although this topic seems straightforward at first, there are numerous areas that students can focus on. Students could write about the psychological traits that are associated with self-confidence or the ways that someone could try to gain confidence. In addition, students could focus on the life factors that could make someone lack confidence. From a crime point of view, students could research the ways that a drop in self-esteem makes someone more likely to commit a crime or become a bully.

Begin the Research Process

For a paper to get a top score, it must be well-researched. Teachers do not care what the student thinks or feels. Instead, they want to see what the student has discovered through their research that is backed by solid science. Data is the name of the game when it comes to writing, and students can find information in their library and online that can support their cause.

Keep Note Cards

As the student researches, note cards are one of the best ways to keep track of information. Whenever the student writes down a piece of information, they should write down the source and the page number that they found it at. By doing this, the student will save more time when they are writing their essay. In addition, the student will want to write down all of the bibliographical information from each source that they use. This step allows the student to speed up the final writing process. Instead of having to look up each source and the information about it later on, the student can just copy it onto their computer to finish the bibliography.

Set Milestones

Longer essays take time to write, so students should make sure that they begin as soon as possible. Often, students will find that it is easier to complete the project if they set goals for each step of the way. Initially, they may want to set a goal to complete a number of hours of research every week. Once the research is done, the student can set daily word count goals. By breaking down the larger project into smaller steps, it makes the entire process more manageable and ensures that the student is able to complete it on time.

Last Step

Now that your essay is finished, make sure it sounds interesting.
Ask some people to read it and get their feedback. One little trick to add some interest to an essay is to reword a sentence into a question.
The best place to do this is in the introduction, because you will be supporting your points with evidence in the body paragraphs. that’s where the question will be answered.
